  1. Job recognizes that the wicked are not without their successes, but in the end it will lead to their calamity, and yet all of us end in death regardless of the life that we have lived. But God’s evaluation is what matters and the wicked have no desire to learn of Him, His ways, or His judgements. And so Job wonders where is friends have assigned him and doesn’t want to here their presumption of where he stands to the balance.

  2. Job seems to understand, while he does not like the conclusion his friends have come to, he always seems to be battling the same questions, why if he was good, is this happening. He does not mourn for the things he has lost, the health that has diminished, the people that have died or turned away from him. He is mourning the loss of God’s presence and comfort. The confusion of living a righteous life and still experiencing such hardship and wanting to feel God’s peace, presence, and power back in his life. Unlike Zophar, and many of us would agree, Job sees plenty of evil people flourish and do seemingly well in this life, the difference is they have no hope and true contentment that comes from God, they just have “stuff” and what troubles Job right now is not the stuff, he wants more God!

  3. Job points out that sometimes the wicked prosper in this life but ultimately all go down to the grave. Their detailed logic and reasoning is pointless.

“How then can you comfort me with empty words, Since falsehood remains in your answers?””
    ‭‭Job‬ ‭21‬:‭34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
