  1. Well isn’t this Jeremiah’s “I told you so” moment to Zedekiah, the princes, the false prophets, and all the people! So sad that they all let it come to this and I am sure Jeremiah and especially God took no pleasure in this happening. So many warnings. So many chances. and still the judgement came as no one listened and Zedekiah’s fate was sealed and such pain and heartbreak to watch your family die in front of you knowing if you had just listened 🙁

  2. And so God’s word is fulfilled and Jerusalem falls in the same way He had said. If only Zedekiah didn’t try to escape. He was told to go out to Nebuchadnezzar and surrender and then not be harmed. But faith is often counter intuitive and Zedekiah was not a man of faith. And what a juxtaposition: Zedekiah, the king, is shackled and blinded and Jeremiah, God’s prophet, is protected and provided for. He is even known to Nebuchadnezzar. Both Jeremiah and the one who freed him from the cistern are kept safe. God can work through any circumstance to accomplish His will and protect His people.

  3. Nebuchadnezzar attacks the city and did as Jeremiah had prophesied to Zedekiah. God protects Jeremiah and he is taken and able to live among those in captivity.
