Reading along with us in Hebrews? Here’s today’s reading:
Hebrews 13 (NIV)
Concluding Exhortations
1 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. 3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering............Continue Reading
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
Could there be any more peace in knowing the God of the Heavens, the Creator of everything, the Alpha and Omega, the Lord of all will ALWAYS be with me and never forsake me! The commands He gives and the expectations He has for our lives should be an honor and easy based on what He has done for us. Hebrews has been a wonderful reminder of those expectations and the sacrifice Christ made for us!
Hebrews 13
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Walking with Jesus: “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Hebrews 13
The writer of Hebrews wraps things up in this chapter by giving several commands on varied things. Many are in the area of relationships and making sure we do God’s will with those who suffer, ( please notice the comma, I am not saying those who suffer in marriage 🙂 ) in marriage, and how we interact with leaders. I was struck by the reason to keep ourselves free from the love of money: because God will never leave us or forsake us and God is our helper. It is always good to be reminded of Jesus’ sacrifice as it frees us from the sacrificial system, calls us to identify with His suffering with suffering of our own, as well as be a testimony to who He is and what He has done both in what we say and what we do.
The words that resonate with me in these passages are the words that God said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you” so I say “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid.” These words give me great comfort and assurance. I will reflect on them as I see events unfold in my life, community, country and world.
5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
6So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
