  1. God will bring judgement on Edom for their mistreatment of Israel. The Edomites were descendants of Esau and so the obvious contention between Edom and and Israel who are descendants of Jacob was a long standing issue. But God is now restoring Israel by beginning judging those nations around them.

    1. The people of Mount Seir decides to take out the Israelites while they were at their lowest point and still dealing with the wrath of God.
God shows his love for his people by punishing the Mt Sier because he has heard all their evil words against him and says while the whole world rejoices he will make them desolate. God said you rejoiced at Israel’s aweful fate now I will rejoice at your demise.

  2. Edom gloats over the Israel’s hardships and God says here that they will be judged for it. They at this time may have had the upper hand on the Israelites, their relatives, but it is hubris to think they have the upper hand on God. God will do this so they will know that He is the Lord….with the presumption that some will turn to Him because of it, or at least they will learn their lesson. This has been a consistent refrain in Ezekiel and just shows that God is always looking for ways to manifest Himself to humankind. We determine the means that He will use.

  3. The Edomites will be treated the same way they treated the Israelites when they were suffering from the punishment that was inflicted upon them. Then they will know that He is Lord.
