Jerusalem as a Useless Vine
1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest? 3 Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?...........Continue Reading

  1. I love the parables…that’s what I remember the most as a child in Sunday school. It was the parables! They always make simple sense. Here we must question what is worthier…being the wood or being the vine..it shouldn’t be a hard question to answer but it WILL make us think!

  2. To think it’s that bad when God compares the people of Jerusalem as a vine only good for firewood. And he’s going to let Jerusalem burn. These are sobering chapters to remind us to use the gifts we have been blessed with

  3. Such a great and humbling picture. The wood of a grapevine is so twisty and bent it is not something chosen to build anything so if it isn’t growing and producing fruit it really is no more than firewood at that point. So sad to think that when we do not operate in the gifts and talents God gave us, when we are not seeking to grow in Christ and bring others to Him we are in essence making ourselves useless in God’s eyes.
God gives us a purpose and this chapter challenges us to think if we are truly fulfilling that purpose.

  4. Israel has shown itself to be useless and only fit for the fire. How sad it is for God to warn them of desolation coming and there be no turning back to Him. May we heed warnings in our lives as God corrects and leads us in His paths of righteousness.
