Reading along with us in Exodus and Romans? Here’s today’s reading:
Exodus 22 (NIV)
Protection of Property
1“Whoever steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it must pay back five head of cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.
2“If a thief is caught breaking in at night and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; 3 but if it happens after sunrise, the defender is guilty of bloodshed.……Continue Reading
In chapter 22 God is laying done the conditions and laws to follow in regards to property, personal actions, and finally before God; Himself. The property portion has to do with thieves, ownership, and fair dealings with the neighbors. I noticed verse 2. { If a thief be found breaking up and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.} I think this means that a person can defend his home and property without consequences. Something that we have in our Constitution. God says strong things against witches, and others that worship false gods. That they should be put to death. Evil only continues to corrupt with more evil as we see in today`s age. Only God can stop the madness that we have in today`s world. Much prayer for revival is needed. God bless.
Extra note here is that when the founders wrote the Constitution; they looked at God and His Holy word for help. For this Nation was blessed by Him even with human flaws. For example; we are all created equal in the sight of God. We are all one human race. But mankind and evolution make this a problem. For evolution teaches that we are not all equal but that some people are better than others. This is a lie from the pit of Hell. God says that we are all made in His likeness and therefore not animals. The DNA proves it if you want to use science but God says it and it should be final. God bless.

Exodus 22
You know what struck me today as I read this…God cares about the minutia of our daily lives! every aspect, every detail He cares about. These specific laws and consequences seem tedious and yet He takes the time to go over each thing in detail. So when I feel like there is a part of my life that I can just take care of and don’t need to stop and pray or consider what God would have me to do because I think it is unimportant, a chapter like this that reminds that He wants EVERY part of my life from the big to the minutia!
What a testimony to God’s affirmation of private property and personal responsibility, both of which are being compromised and threatened in our day today. Also striking is God’s care for the vulnerable and the disenfranchised. God calls us to be compassionate and generous to the weak as opposed to taking advantage of them or degrading them. And clear lines are drawn around evil, showing we should not be dallying with these things, but cutting them off in our own lives. In God’s government evil is to be cut off to silence its influence on others. We live by different standards today, but I can’t help but wonder how we might be benefitted by such things without losing compassion, grace and mercy that we all need…but are misused by the defiant and the deviant.
Guidance with regards to property and how disputes are settled in that regard. We can see where the idea of property rights comes from.
Harsh statements with regards to dabbling in sorcery and worshiping false gods:
”“You shall not permit a sorceress to live. “Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death. “He who sacrifices to any god, except to the Lord only, he shall be utterly destroyed.“
Exodus 22:18-20 NKJV
Of course we no longer put people to death in light of Christ’s sacrifice for sin and the ability for any man to repent and believe, but the understood value that sorcery is evil and worshipping false gods is evil has been made “squishy”. Is worshiping Allah okay? How about Mary? What is the solution? Standing firmly in the truth and preaching the gospel without reservation.
