  1. This is the first time where the Ten Commandments are listed. They are given to Moses by the very Hand of God. In other words Moses didn`t write the Ten Commandments down; at least this first time. Exodus 32: 16 { And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God.} Here are the Ten Commandments: 1= Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2= Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. 3= Thou shalt not take the name of Lord thy God in vain. 4= Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. 5= Honour thy father and thy mother. 6= Thou shalt not kill. { murder} 7= Thou shalt not commit adultery. Jesus gives a fuller statement Matthew 5:28 { But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.} 8= Thou shalt not steal. 9= Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. 10= Thou shalt not covet. The first 4 commandments are in relation to God; while the remaining 6 are in relation to people. As Jesus said when He was asked what the greatest commandment: Matthew 22:37–40 { —-Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.} There is a condition on the third commandment. God says He will not hold the person guiltless that uses His name in vain. There is a promise with the fifth commandment; that a person will have a long life if he honors his parents. Wouldn`t this also apply to grandparents? They are like parents when the parents aren`t present. God bless you all.

  2. How foundational these principles are for life and the function of society. Just think about where we would be if these principles were not a reference point of how we should act and think about where we are and the heartache that comes when these are broken. How important that God starts first prioritizing human’s relationship with Him and the regard we should have for Him. We should recognize His supremacy in all and His spiritual nature by not casting any image that would somehow bring Him down to our level or replace Him with anything else…especially worshipping creation rather than the creator. But God also knew that, even after a right understanding of Him and right relationship with Him, we would need specific direction as to how we engage with others. How foundational it is to not take someone else’s life, or their property, and not even covet or desire who they are or what they have. That says a lot about what our focus should be and how we should not concern ourselves with comparing ourselves with other people, but be content with whatever God’s plan affords us in our lives. And how important honesty is to human relationships and the function of society, especially in a courtroom. We need only concern ourselves with what the truth is and that being what we communicate about in every facet of life.

  3. It always strikes me how even in our current society and among people who claim not to believe in God at all these 10 Commandments are still a basic reference point for good or evil. Our sense of right and wrong come from God even in places that don’t acknowledge Him you can see these standards applied because we are all His creation…installed with this hardware so to speak!

  4. A state is having the 10 commandments put back in schools. The governor’s ? reasoning is very encouraging. It is a mystery why anyone would find them offensive….unless of course you are opposed to God, his law and general righteousness.
