Reading along with us in Ephesians? Here’s today’s reading:

Ephesians 3 (ESV)

For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel......Continue Reading

  1. 20Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Who is this “him” we are talking about here? I don’t think it’s Jesus becuase in verse 21 it says to him be glory in the church and Christ Jesus, but I’m having trouble thinking of anyone else. Is it God? Is it the Holy Spirit? Or was it a person on earth? And what is his importance? He is able to do more than we ask or think, but what does that mean for us?

    1. 😊 hi Sarah! Reading the preceeding verses to see who he is speaking of. Vs 14… The Father, vs 16 His Spiritand vs 17 Christ. ❤️

  2. 14For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.❤️

  3. Once again, ancient history reading, the book of Daniel, the book of Revelation and now here in Ephesians, all “fit” together to show God’s plan and purpose to reach the gentile nations through Jesus Christ.

“When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. 6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.”

  4. AH the mystery revealed in due time, made possible only by the work of Christ, Gentle and Jew made one! I really like verse 10 where it shows one of the reasons God did this that is often missed. “His intent was that now through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.” Both angel and demon shown the glory of God through the work that He has done in us puny humans? I think so. Now just think of all that God has done and seeks to do in and through the church, and every local assembly, to reveal His glory….certainly raises the bar of what we seek to do as a body in our own lives, our relationships with each other and the ministry we perform!

SO no wonder Paul bows his knee in verse 14, and then prays for the church in 16-19 and then worships God (and yes Sara and Melanie it is the God the Father referenced 20 and 21) in verses 20 and 21. What great truth we find in all those verses!!!!
