Reading along with us in Ephesians? Here’s today’s reading:

Ephesians 2 (NIV)

Made Alive in Christ
1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath............Continue Reading

  1. “8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Well there it is….the amazing salvation given to us by grace and under no powers of our own. We could never earn what He has given us but it certainly should stir in us a desire to serve and give back even a fraction of what He has given to us.
I was also really moved this morning as I read we are no longer strangers or foreigners but citizens and family with God….such unity He offers in a world built on division and typically lately. Division is such a tool of the enemy! We disagree over every little thing and separate instead of finding common ground the common ground that Christ provides. When we walk in His example of love and forgiveness the silly disputes seem so trivial and yet people will allow them to divide each other, hurt one another, and even kill over. So sad to see us give such power to the enemy when God provides such perfect unity in His kingdom.

  2. The mercy of God. So undeserving of his mercy. As I was deep into sin and he saved me. The ruler of the air is not Satan. after his resurrection Jesus is the ruler of the whole world. Satan only rules those who chose to follow him. And seated us with him in heavenly realms. Because of christs resurrection. We to will be raised. And we have resurrection power now. Love vs 10. We are a masterpiece created and molded by God. Here goes Paul. The Jews must have flipped reading these verses. Jews and gentile alike. All saved by the blood of Christ. No longer foreigners or aliens but members of Gods family. Hallelujah!!!!

  3. Ephesians 2: we have been saved by Grace, a gift given by God! We don’t have to earn our way to Heaven, it is by our faith in Christ. He has made a way for us!

  4. How far we have come, or more appropriately how far God has brought us. How lost we were and are if He did not rescue us. What privilege it is to be made right with Him and be part of His family all because of His grace and mercy extended through Jesus and His work on the cross. Are there better words to understand than being saved by grace through faith? Priceless! And with so great a salvation flowing from Christ the power of darkness is shattered as well as what privilege the Jews had over the Gentiles. All are made one in and through Christ, where we all have the potential to be seated with Him in the heavenly. And if that designation is true of us, what earthly designation means anything in comparison? And who is benefited by the bringing together of Jew and Gentile? Well God receives the glory for the substance and fulfillment of His plan and we are blessed to be part of His family and being in-dwelt by His Spirit. Now that is something to be excited and inspired by…..

  5. He made us alive when:
-we were dead in trespasses and sins
-we conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind
-we were by nature children of wrath
    – we were without Christ
    – we were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, – – – we had no hope
    – we were without God in the world.

    He made us alive:
    – together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)
    – and raised us up together
    – and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus
    – and have been brought near by the blood of Christ

He has unified those who are Israel that have hope and the covenant promises with strangers and foreigners and made them fellow citizens and members of the same household.
