  1. The good new doesn’t get any better than Ephesians chapter 1. Every verse is loaded. Vs 3. Every spiritual blessing. Unbelievable. Chosen for salvation. Getting to know God. Adopted as Gods children. The gift of the Holy Spirit. And power to do the will of God. Vs 4. God chose us we can’t claim anything about our salvation. He saved us according to his plan Holy snd blameless in his sight as if we never sinned. Vs 5. Adopted into Gods family. Heirs along with Jesus. We have been redeemed bought so we could be free. Love vs 11. God is sovereign. He is in charge. Rest in that truth. Need to be reminded! Jesus is lord and God is in control. The enemy can do nothing to change that. Holy Spirit a deposit guaranteeing eternal life. This chapter is beyond rich!! That you may be given by the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Going to pray for that! And to end this chapter. We have the same power that rose Jesus from the grave. And our lord is above all things and in control of all things. All victory has already been established by our savior king and best friend. Doesn’t get any better. What a truth this chapter is so powerful!!!!

  2. I can’t agree more Mark! The chapter is chock full of all the things God accomplished through Jesus and all we are and have because of our relationship with Him. And who can miss the consistent refrain that it was all done by His pleasure and to the praise of HIS GLORY! In Jesus we have every spiritual blessing, we are chosen, predestined to be adopted as His sons, redeemed, the forgiveness of sins, He purposed His will through Jesus, so everything (not some things or most things but EVERYTHING) will be brought under Jesus. And we receive all this just because we believe in Him and then He guarantees that salvation and assures us of it by giving us His Holy Spirit. How can’t we be glad when anyone we know comes to understand and believe these things? How can’t we pray that they would know it more and grow in their understanding of all that God is and all He has provided and planned. How great is our God and how great the salvation He offers in Him!

  3. Peter. I read it again this morning. So rich. It was Gods pleasure to adopt us as his Sons. Is there anything better than pleasing our lord!! How much he loves us!!

  4. So amazing all that we have been given in Christ.

It occurred to me after reading this several year ago, that verses 1-12 was talking about the first disciples/apostles who first trusted in Christ, because it says, “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who FIRST TRUSTED IN CHRIST should be to the praise of His glory.” (my emphasis) Not that we are excluded from these blessings, but just a statement of events in time.

Because, of course, it also says: “In Him YOU ALSO TRUSTED, WHEN YOU HEARD THE WORD OF TRUTH, the gospel of your salvation; in whom ALSO, HAVING BELIEVED, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” (my emphasis)

I have always seen this as the transition between God’s plan for the Jews, first Jewish believers, and His inclusion of the Gentiles in His plan. One of the mysteries of His will is that there will be a time (dispensation) when He will include everything, everyone, under Christ. “having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.”

Paul prays for them and is thankful for them. He prays for:
    the spirit of wisdom
    revelation
    knowledge of Him
    understanding
    enlightened
know what is the hope of His calling
    riches of the glory
    inheritance in the saints
exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

He goes on and on about our blessings in Christ! It is so hard to digest!

  5. You can not read a chapter like this and not feel overwhelmed by God’s glory and willingness to have us a part of that. Word after word reminding us we are chosen, predestined, and part of a knowledge and plan so much greater than anything we can wrap our heads around.
So much encouragement to know we have access to the wisdom, knowledge, and power of God everyday….again just overwhelmed!

  6. Ephesians 1 – Love this chapter, Paul tells us in Ephesians that in his love he predestined us to be adopted as his children through Jesus, we have redemption through his blood, we are holy and blameless in his sight. We have so much to be thankful for because he’s given us so much, he pours out his grace on us and he loves us and forgives us, he has given us the Holy Spirit .
