Deuteronomy 30 (NIV)
Prosperity After Turning to the Lord
1 When all these blessings and curses I have set before you come on you and you take them to heart wherever the Lord your God disperses you among the nations, 2 and when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today,……Continue Reading
The first Old Testament chapter I read some 40 years ago. That had stuck with me every day. Choose!! Life or death!! We know right from wrong. Obey or disobey. Believe or don’t believe. Without the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. How can anyone defeat this? . Who would choose death an Enemy that is deceiving so many
Deuteronomy 30 Moses is talking to the Jews about how God would still take them back even after they have turned their backs on him, if they follow his commands he will bless them. God will circumcise their hearts and their descendants hearts. He wants to forgive them and have them obey him by walking in his ways . He wants that for us as well. He doesn’t force this on anyone, are we going to follow him or reject him.
Thank God that He has given us His Holy Word that we should know how to walk and live in our daily lives. He gave us the Ten Commandments to reveal to us that we are all sinners. We have been sinners since Adam sinned in the garden. And then He sent His son Jesus to die in our place on the cross. He gave us His word to teach us His ways. In the Bible, He shows us who He is and who we are. He used the nation of Israel to reveal Himself to the whole world and how we all need Him as our Savour. As many have said; the Bible is His love letter to all the people in the world. He wants and desires our relationship with Him. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance. But He leaves it up to us to decide for Him. When someone rejects Christ, they are sending their own selves to hell. There is no other way but Christ for we are all sinners. God can`t have sin in His presence. But as believers we are covered by what Christ has done for us. Once saved, God wants us to get into His word that we may grow in Him. Psalm 119:9-18. and Psalm 119:105. as two examples. May the Lord bless you all.
Deuteronomy 30
God promises the Israelites that if they stay away He will always take them back, regardless of how far they have gone. The same goes for us and how glad we can be that we serve such a gracious and merciful God. And yet, it really shouldn’t be hard to follow Him. The law is clear and right there in front of them. They need no special ability to obey, just the willingness to do so. It will be for them a choice between life and death..and His encouragement? Choose life, and the blessings will flow.
God gives us the choice to follow Him or not. He clearly spells out the end result of each. Yet still so many turn away, so many choose the temporary things of this world over the hope of eternity with Him. And regardless of how far we feel we have moved away from Him, He is always ready to welcome us back to Him.
Deuteronomy 30
Choose life or death. Should be easy but we still flounder like we are unsure of what we want. So many enticed by the world. Eternity is life everlasting!
”But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.“
Deuteronomy 30:14 NKJV
Cool to see the thread of the gospel way back in Deuteronomy.
”But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”“
Romans 10:6-11 NKJV
