A Lament and Call to Repentance
1 Hear this word, Israel, this lament I take up concerning you:
2 “Fallen is Virgin Israel,
never to rise again,
deserted in her own land,
with no one to lift her up.”
3 This is what the Sovereign Lord says to Israel:
“Your city that marches out a thousand strong
will have only a hundred left;
your town that marches out a hundred strong
will have only ten left.”.........Continue Reading

  1. What encouraging words to seek the Lord and live. God desired so much for Israel and yet they were not operating the way He desired. You can practically hear God’s heart breaking as He talks about the unrighteousness and injustice they were living in. I mean for God to say seek good and not evil to His people is sad. But they oppress the righteous and the rich take advantage of the poor. They are even following some of the formalities of what God called them to, but they did it with the wrong heart and it wasn’t transforming them in the way they treated people. So God will judge them, but he warns before He does. He tells them exactly why and what they can do about it. The day of the Lord won’t be good for them because as God comes to establish righteousness and justice on the earth, He will be coming after them. Right things, done in a right way that transforms our lives to care for people rather than taking advantage of them and seeking His glory and not our own…that’s what God wants from His people…us and them!

  2. Israel thinking they were secure in their wealth and their religion. Sound a little familiar. Seek the Lord and Live!!! Pray for the 🇺🇸

  3. 4Seek good, not evil,
    that you may live.
    Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you,
    just as you say he is.
    15Hate evil, love good;
    maintain justice in the courts.
    Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy
    on the remnant of Joseph.

    Again God is showing us that He sees through our outward appearance and knows our heart! He sees our pride, greed, and selfishness. He sees when we have put “things” before God and treat others unfairly and He will punish those who choose evil!

  4. The Lord tells Israel once again to seek him and live. He will have mercy upon them if they do so. He will not accept their offerings, songs and religious festivals and assemblies. They will be punished until they repent and correct their behavior. God wants us to do the same – to seek him, repent of our sin and correct our behavior. He is a God of mercy, grace and love.
    14Seek good, not evil,
    that you may live.
    Then the LORD God Almighty will be with you,
    just as you say he is.
