  1. Nathanael’s response to finding out who Jesus was is such a real response, like nothing good comes out of that town! As people we do this to each other all the time. We think checking accounts, neighborhoods, and jobs make a person significant. One of the best ideas God ever had was the humble form He sent His Son in to save us. An ordinary baby who grew to be an ordinary carpenter in an ordinary town. We can say “its what’s inside that matters” but we really need to stop ourselves from falling into the trap of judging based on the outside, whether it be consciously or subconsciously.
And how much do I love that Jesus’ first miracle was at the request of his mom! A simple, but still amazing, miracle kicks off His ministry and Mary at this point clearly understands who her Son really is to even ask! Just love it!

  3. John the Baptist introduces Jesus as the son of God and also the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. As first 1 Corinthian 5:7 states, all sins and everyone sins were paid for by the death of Jesus on the cross. The two disciples that left John the Baptist to follow Jesus, Jesus asked them one question, What do you want? What a great question for us. What do we want from God? What do we want from Jesus? Interesting that Jesus was not raised in Jerusalem, but in Nazareth, which was looked down upon by many Jews of the day a good lesson to us to think that someone who is full of the Holy Spirit of God doesn’t look a certain way, or doesn’t come from a special place. It is great to think of the compassion that Jesus had for so many people. Jesus’ mission was to save the world, the greatest mission in the history of all of mankind, and here He is at a wedding having compassion on the family of the bride taking care of their needs, so they’re not an embarrassment to the town and all the guests at the wedding. people in this world look everywhere except to God for excitement and meaning they expect God to be dull. What a great lesson that Jesus made the best wine that money could buy. A great lesson once again that life in him is better than life on our own. People wait till they run out of wine and everything else before turning to God. Why would you save the best until last!!!

  4. It’s interesting the contrast between the calling of the disciples and their acknowledgement of who he is. Even those who are skeptical (can anything good come from Nazareth?) are easily convinced (I saw you under the fig tree) Jesus clears the temple of these money changers, a violation of the temple, and they question His authority and ask for a miracle to verify it.
