  1. The death of Lazarus. How many times in our lives do we think that God is not answering our prayers the way we want, but our Lord always has a purpose in his timing. Jesus has the power of life and death and more importantly to forgive sins. He is the creator of life, “I am the resurrection and the life anyone who believes in me will live even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me, will never die.”!!! Did Jesus weep because he joined them in their grief or because they didn’t understand and wept because of their unbelief? It doesn’t matter, it just shows that God has emotions compassion, sorrow. Jesus often showed deep emotions, How awesome is that that we could never be afraid of showing our true feelings to Jesus, He understands them. And to think when we die, the next voice we hear is our Lord and Savior Jesus. Calling our name !! It is hard to believe that the Pharisees at this point after someone was dead for four days is now alive they could be so hardened to still reject God’s Son. Not only to plot to kill Jesus, but to kill Lazarus as well.

  2. Advent days 29 and 30.
Jesus said “ I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will have life, even if they die.”

  3. Psalm 59; Jeremiah 36; The Life of Jesus 4.61-4.65

    “Jesus wept”

Even when you know there will be a happy ending, it’s still okay to cry at the sad parts.

  4. It is one thing to sin and yet quite worse to cause someone else to sin and then even worse to cause a chid to sin or sin against a child. And yet we should be forgiving to people knowing the reality that wel all sin, especially when people take responsibility for their sin and repent. But we are to forgive even if they don’t because forgiveness is free. It is trust that is earned. And what a significant thing to recognize is that faithfulness and obedience is its own reward. We should not expect praise or recognition for it. It is truly a privilege to serve God. And what an amazing account the raising of Lazarus is. Jesus could have prevented His death but chooses not to so others would recognize who He was. He uses this to both declare and prove that He is the resurrection and the life, and if we believe in Him, we will never taste death. It is one thing to say it. it is another thing to show it. And how striking is Jesus’ compassion to cry because of other’s sadness when He knows full well He will solve what they are sad about. And so against all odds and normal occurrence, Jesus raises Lazarus. And so naturally many believe. It is the natural thing to do when confronted by such power. But for those who are determined to maintain their position and power, when that is threatened, we must eliminate the threat. How significant that Caiphus predicts what he does. Jesus will die for Israel…in more ways than one.
