  1. Life of Jesus 4.41-4.44. Also have been doing the daily readings. Just not on the computer daily. Enjoy the good comments each day. Very wise comments.

  2. If only we could follow these two commandments to the tee, we would receive eternal life. But hopefully this expert in the law and all of us know that we can’t. And therefore we need Jesus and His sacrifice to make us right with God. And yet we should still strive to love God with all our being and recognize that our neighbors go way beyond those who live next to us, but really its anyone in need that we come in contact with where we can help. And how easy it is for us to think that being busy is what God wants from us….not that it is a bad thing….but the more desired thing is to come under the teaching and wisdom of God. And what a truly wonderful structure for prayer that Jesus gives here. It shows how important each element is to God and each is a spring board for the kind of prayers we would pray to worship God, to address physical and relational needs as well as seeking support for spiritual battles. And what a great promise Jesus offers if we keep asking, seeking and knocking. And Jesus always saved His strictest criticism for the religious leaders and He just lambasts them for all the hypocrisy, judgement and misuse of influence that they operated in. We are wise to address the same things in our lives that we look more like Jesus than them.

  3. What is on the inside of a person is much more important than what is on the outside. If someone thinks he is righteous, but does not care for a person hurt on the road, then he is fooling himself. And what is more important? To sit and listen to God’s Word or to be distracted by the chores that need to be done? Jesus tells Martha the answer to that question. And making ourselves look nice is all well and good, but what are we doing to improve ourselves on the inside? I know people who, by worldly standards, are not very attractive. However, I am drawn to them and want to spend time with them because they have the light of God shining in their countenance, words and actions. I have no interest in the “beautiful people”, all I can see is their pride, vanity and selfishness. There is no desire to get to know them – other than to tell them that Jesus is the way to salvation.
