  1. How awesome and amazing the coming of Jesus is, whether you look at it in light of eternity or in light of what happened on earth. This One who is God, who harkens from eternity past came to this earth and took on flesh. Astounding! And yet God sent someone to announce His coming so the world could be prepared for Him. And this John had a beginning that was miraculous on its own. We have another barren woman who God uses to bring a significant child into the world. Zechariah doubts whether it will happen, and therefore cannot speak. Mary asks how it will happen and she declares the glory of God revealed in Him choosing her. And how amazing that God uses an angel to communicate to both of them. And I just love the picture of Mary visiting Elizabeth, these too related women who are now related in the miraculous children that they carry in their wombs. May we never become familiar with the stupendous things that God did to show that He was doing something special for all of humankind to know and be transformed by.

  2. I couldn’t help seeing the beginning connections between John and Samson. Both Hold a Nazarite vow from birth and even in the womb by their mothers. John walks in the Spirit and follows Gods will, Samson walks in the flesh.

I think of how long it has been, 400 years? Since God has intervened or called a man of Israel to His service. Something very big is afoot and it starts with an old lady and mute man, a virgin, and two babies.

  3. The word became a Man who lived among us and the Word was full of truth and grace. The amazing thought that the creator came to creation in our humble form, experienced life as we do, and did it all to save us. The Christmas season is a time to reflect on that little baby, the Word, there before time and creator of all we are and have. Just an overwhelming amount of love He shows us that this story should never become too familiar.

  4. Love this book. So glad we are back reading. It not only never gets old. It just keeps growing in the spirit inside us. The fact that Jesus was fully human and fully God. Jesus became man but never stopped being the eternal God who has always existed. The creator and sustainer of all things. And the true source of eternal life.

  5. The Word is True, is Light, is Life. The Word is Jesus. Those who believe in him have the right to be called God’s children. John the Baptist was born out of a miracle by two people who were devoted to the Lord. He paved a way for Jesus by means of repentance. And John testified publicly that Jesus is the Son of God. This was the Lord’s perfect plan and it is truly amazing!

  6. Advent 1
    The Life of Jesus
Mary quickly went to see Elizabeth. Not cleaned 1st or ate! I believe that is how God would like all of us to react to his word. Can you imagine Elizabeth’s be aware of her baby jumping around when Mary entered! When Got asks to do something he is most important and expects us to act immediately.
