Day 8 in the Book: “The Life of Jesus“
The Beginning of Jesus’ Public Life
Read Sections 2.13 through 2.15 (pages 28-29)
This book is an account of Jesus’ life and teachings told through in chronological order from the four Gospels to create one continuous story.

We are all called to be disciples…we are all part of the harvest. The seeds we plant in someone, someone else may help grow, but we all have a responsibility to share the good news of Christ!
Jesus is starting to break down barriers to Gospel. The crop is ready for harvesting! People are beginning to believe in Jesus for their salvation. It must of been a very joyful time.
Day 8
Advent 2.13-2.15
The Samaritan woman at the well was changed by Jesus. Even with her checkered past. The people in her village saw her excitement and went to find Jesus. They wanted the same thing. Do we walk around with inexpressible joy that people notice. Jesus has changed us and others should see that
The food that Jesus mentions that he has to eat is the excitement of sharing the good news that has come. Would you care about eating if you had many people asking about eternal life? We so much want things from God. But most important is doing his will on earth by furthering his kingdom
Day 8
2.13 – 2.15
Advent 2.16-2.18
At first the people believed in Jesus because of what the woman shared, then they believed because they heard him themselves. That’s how it should be…we should give the introduction to Jesus, and then people should hear (read, seek) on their own.
I love that the Samaritan woman left her water jug behind in her excitement to tell people about Jesus. How often are we the opposite? Let me take care of this thing God before I do what you ask. Oh that our food would be to do the will of God as well..and then see the harvest that will come from our lives that reflect Jesus to others. It will be increasingly hard to see the plentiful harvest as the broad way that leads to destruction consumes more and more people, but it should not dampen our intent and desire to share the good news and let the results come from God. And maybe even find those times that a whole group of people are changed because of our testimony….because that is what happened with this woman. And our hope would be that people would say I believed first because of what you told me, but now I see for myself the truth and value of who God is and what He makes possible.
All the prophets, John the Baptist and Jesus did the work to get the people ready to accept the gift of eternal life. So the disciples can focus on harvesting – telling others the gospel message so people can be saved.
