Peter’s Miraculous Escape From Prison
1 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also.……Continue Reading

  1. Herrod seeks his own public and political advancement through the murder of James and imprisonment of Peter. This treatment comes as no surprise as Jesus told them this was coming, however, Herrod couldn’t stop the prayers and god sends an angel to just walk Peter right out of that prison! How cool is that and how mad it makes Herrod! Enough to take innocent guards lives and further his own sinful agenda.
Herrod, as part of a lineage that had no place for God because they were so full of pride and selfishness, meets his end in a horrible way. Sin has consequence and these graphic deaths become descriptive reminders of that.

  2. Herod. Fit right in with certain politicians today. Not concerned with correct policy. But when he saw that pleased the jews. Having James the brother of John killed. He had Peter thrown in jail. BUT the church was praying Earnestly for Peter. Prayer changes things!!!! Vs 14. Puts an a smile on your face when this woman is so excited to hear Pete’s voice she forgets to unlock the door and runs back to tell the apostles. Always interesting to read. Vs 15 Guardian angel!! This chapter ends the way it should. What goes around. Comes around. Herod gets what he deserved

  3. Herod mentioned here is Agrippa 1. He was a ruler popular with the Jewish people for he was part Jew. His grand father was Herod the Great. He wanted to please the Jews which meant attacking and killing Christians such as James the brother of John or big James. Another James mentioned here the half brother of Jesus. The house that the believers were praying in was the mother of John Mark who went on missions with Paul and Barnabas. Barnabas was the uncle of John Mark and a Levite that sold a piece of land for the cause of Christ. Acts 4. Peter again is rescued by an angel. The believers were praying for him and their prayers were answered when the angel brought Peter out of the prison and set him free. It is astonishing how they didn`t believe that Peter was actually at the gate where they were praying for him. This is a reminder to us as we pray that God does hear us and will answer our prayer according to His will. God bless.

  4. Peter is released from prison by an Angel. It is interesting to think, some being killed, others escape; the gospel carries on. God has a plan and purpose for each. We may not know what it is, but we know His plans for us are good.
