Mordecai Honored
1 That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. 2 It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.…..Continue Reading

  1. How pride can blind us and make us think we are worthy of things we are not. And how God has worked to have the king be awake and read what he did and then turns the tables on Haman that Mordecai receives the honor Haman had described. Pride does come before a fall and his friends see it coming, but will Haman do anything to change it. Not likely as his pride stands in the way.

  2. The king could not sleep and is read of Mordecai’s great deeds. God is always working for us whether we are sleeping or awake. God’s sovereign control over his chosen people’s lives. That includes us!!! Why do we worry!?! Haman all about himself. He had wealth but his pride wanted respect and popularity at any cost. Stay humble. Pride will always get you hung.!

  3. It is here when Haman’s plan starts to backfire. His wife picks up on it and realizes that he will not be able to carry it out because Mordecai is a Jew, protected by God. Anti-semites in our world today would be wise to acknowledge this. Genocide will not happen to the Jews, they are God’s chosen people. “Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall has started, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him—you will surely come to ruin!”

  4. Talk about a tough pill to swallow!! Haman in all his pride sets out the treatment he would like and thinks he deserves to be honored by the king and ironically must bestow that honor onto his enemy and in such a public fashion! I like that his reaction to this situation was similar to finding out a loved one was dead because it was, this public humiliation put to death for a time his pride! And how cool the hand of God is in this chapter that a sleepless night leads to the reading of the very book and very passage that reminnds the king of Mordecai’s need to be honored…definitely not just a coincidence!

  5. “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life.”
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The perfect narrative of the proverbs about pride and humility, and sowing and reaping.
