It is so good when the truth comes out, especially when it has been misrepresented. So, the Gentile leaders end up with egg on their face and now diligently help the Jews and not bear the harsh repercussions mentioned by King Darius. And what a provision of God’s sovereign hand moving the hearts of these pagan kings to help the temple be built and the worship of His name allowed. And so the temple is completed and the Passover is celebrated. How nice for the Jews to be in this place and so good for us when the plans and provisions of God are made evident in our lives!

So cool when God uses unexpected methods to accomplish His plans. These kings making decrees not only for work to continue, but also that it be funded out of the treasury and that all the items stolen years before be restored to it. Once the temple is complete the people rightfully rejoice and celebrate the obvious hand and help God provided to get them there!
Darius allows Cyrus’ decree to continue unabated:
“Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God on its site. Moreover I issue a decree as to what you shall do for the elders of these Jews, for the building of this house of God: Let the cost be paid at the king’s expense from taxes on the region beyond the River; this is to be given immediately to these men, so that they are not hindered.”
