Reading along with us in 1 Chronicles and Luke? Here’s today’s reading:
1 Chronicles 14 (NIV)
David’s House and Family
1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons and carpenters to build a palace for him. 2 And David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel.…..Continue Reading

In contrast to David improperly moving the ark in the last chapter leading to the death of Uzzah, David went to God and followed His instructions in the battle against the Philistines and was victorious. When we look to God first we will know if we are doing the right thing and if we are listening to His voice we will know if we are doing it the right way. God blesses our obedience.
1CHRONICLES 14
David was given much by God. Each time there were battles David spoke to God to get permission which is why he continued to win and remain in God’s favor
1 chronicles 14. Very wise of David to consult with God before every battle, good lesson to be learned here .
Like David, may people see God’s hand working in our lives and thereby be drawn to us. And David is wise to consult God before battle, but he is unwise to multiply wives. It is also neat how God provides the victory in the second battle. He goes before the armies of Israel. Oh yes, the battle does belong to the Lord! And He fights for us as well!
1 Chronicles 13 & 14
1 Chronicles 14
David inquires of the Lord as he faces the Philistines.
