Psalms 69-70 (NIV)

For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of David.
1 Save me, O God,
for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in the miry depths,
where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
the floods engulf me.……Continue Reading

  1. David is exhausted to the point of unquestionable thirst and blurred vision. All these enemies without reason coming against him. All of These words certainly remind us of our savior

  2. I can feel the pain and despair in these Psalms as David has so many people not only hating him without cause but actively trying to destroy him. Certainly we seek approval from people and it is uncomfortable to know someone dislikes us, especially when we feel like there is no reason for it, but few of us have ever found ourselves in such despair because we were in a place like David faced. But what I take away is that our response to hurts, injustices, or even bad situations of our own doing and sin is to go to God. Is to seek His answers, His peace, His justice. We do not need to jump into survival mode and try to fix things on our own but rather pray and let God reveal how He might help us resolve such situations, in His way and in His timing.

  3. How comforting it is to know that we have a God we can turn to in any situation and know that He listens, cares and can act on our and His behalf. David’s situation is a tough one, but as He prays to God, he turns from focusing on his situation to focusing on God. And nothing matters more than having God on our side, and the knowledge of His love for us and all that He can accomplish in our present and the future to ultimately accomplish His purposes. Yes there is always a reason to praise Him, pray for His help, look for how He is working and how He is going to use the situation we are in for His glory and the building up of our lives. He never promised things would be easy….the world is full of sinners…but He promises to be with us through it all and guide us into the truth we need. Let us always keep our eyes on Him.

  4. Thank you Kelly and Pastor Peter for your response. It is most helpful. When we are experiencing discouragement because of the troubles that surround us, turn to God for direction and guidance. Try not to force solutions and fix things to our liking so we don’t have to feel the uncomfortable feelings we are experiencing. Its better to stop and pray, feel the feelings (they come and go like the wind) and wait for God to direct us when it is time to take action. Very difficult to do sometimes, but well worth it.

  5. I am poor, needy, weak, and vulnerable. But God is strong, powerful, wise and merciful. “The Lord is great!” We can fully depend on him to be our help and our deliverer.
