Judas in it for what he could get out of it. Could not see beyond himself. When he saw Mary waisting something that could have made him more money. His Heart changed even more to the left His desire for money and position will not be met following Jesus anymore. The chief stooges had planned to arrest Jesus after Passover. But Judas changed all that making a deal with the devil to help the religious stooges. Once again God uses satan and Judas to carry out the crucifixion and the resurrection in his time table.
The reading here really shows that man cannot serve two masters. Judas chose money as that master. So sad that someone could walk with Jesus and see first hand the miraculous things He was doing and yet still have such a desire for money and “stuff” that he would betray Him to get more. No better than the priests that choose pride and self as their master. They would rather kill Jesus than humble themselves enough to see that He is the Messiah they have been waiting for and teaching others about.
Lent 2025 – Day 13
Day 13
Lent – Days 12 & 13
It is astonishing how Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus`s Apostles would betray Jesus. He was an eyewitness to many of Jesus miracles such as healing the blind, sick, and lame. Even casting out demons and raising the dead. He along with the other disciples were also giving this ability for a short time through and because of Jesus. Yet even now Judas is sitting along with Lazarus who Jesus had raised from the dead and in the house of Simon the Leper who Jesus had healed apparently for they wouldn`t had been in his house if he was still a leper. He is there also with the two sisters of Lazarus. They and others were eyewitnesses of Lazarus resurrection. Now he complains that Mary shouldn`t have wasted the perfume on Jesus feet but sold it and used on the poor. He really wanted the money for himself as he was stealing the money from the disciples. Yet Judas is fixed on the love of money and not on trusting in the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. It ends poorly for him by hanging himself on a tree. He was blind just like the religious leaders of his day. It all is the same today for mankind is blind to the truth and would rather live in their sins. They don`t realize how short time is and that they could die at any time. Anyone of us could go at any time. I have seen this happen since the age of three. My brother got hit by a motorcycle when he was five and I was the eyewitness, but God performed a miracle, and he is still alive today coming to Jesus in his 20`s. My sister, Susan got hit by a speeding car and was in a comma for three weeks before she died. She was fifteen years old. This happened just over a year before I got saved when I was 20 years old. the Lord has also protected me many times from dying before and after I got saved. Some that I am aware of. My sister found Jesus a couple of years before the Lord took her. We must be ready as believers to talk about Christ for He is our only hope. Are we living the way that He wants us to live? God says that we are to use our time wisely. May we all continue to grow and live in Him.
