Get Wisdom at Any Cost
1 Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction;
pay attention and gain understanding.
2 I give you sound learning,
so do not forsake my teaching.
3 For I too was a son to my father,
still tender, and cherished by my mother.……Continue Reading

  1. Proverbs 4 we must ask for Godly wisdom in prayer so we can pass that wisdom on to our children. David taught Solomon that seeking God’s wisdom was the most important choice he could make. We need to guard our hearts to keep us on the right path, keep our eyes on the goal and not what leads us to sin.. We can look all around us and see what’s happening in this world because of the lack of Godly wisdom, people are choosing paths to destruction.

  2. We decide which path to walk in.
    Wisdom or evil each have a path to choose.
    Reminds me of the Spirit and the flesh.

    ”I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble.“
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    ”Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on.“
    ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    “Pass on.” So much wisdom in that advice. How much sin can we avoid, just by deciding to pass on.

  3. Proverbs 4 – a father’s plea to his son to listen to his instruction and learn and guard wisdom. A very familiar plea, and full of Truth.

    For all Believers, we must guard or keep our hearts with “all vigilance” for we know that in the Lord’s hands, from it will flow springs of life, indeed, the Word of Truth.

    “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Jesus told us in Matt6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” What we put before our eyes matters, and where we allow our eyes to go matters just as much.

    “Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.” We must spend time thinking about what we are doing and where we are going…this is part of our transformation through mind renewal…our brain creates new pathways when we walk in newness of life, and old, corrupt habits and sins die when we stop doing them. This is mind renewal…God made our brains able to heal, even after we have made habits of sinful behavior. But God is not a genie in a lamp…we heal as we walk in obedience…because that is how we trust God.

  4. Well said Cindy. We all need to ask for Godly wisdom and teach our children and grandchildren in His ways. This would be having a Biblical world view and not having a worldly view in our daily lives. This could be hard for we are filled with false things in our world every day. From schools; government, and media, etc. We need to have a discerning spirit and the wisdom that only God can give. We only need to ask Him. God always speaks truth; where mankind speaks lies. As we draw closer to Him in our walk; He will give us His wisdom and guidance in our daily lives. 1 Cor. 2:14 {But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.} 1 Cor. 3:19 {For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.} One of the lies given is that everyone has their own truth. It is not based on what we feel but upon what God says for He is the TRUTH. Having a Biblical world view is based upon what God says in His Word, and not upon what we feel or think. If what we feel or think doesn`t line up with what God says; then we are wrong. God knows far better than we will ever know; after all He created us. If we don`t understand something God provides the answers in His word. God wants us to be critical thinkers discerning the times that we are in. God bless you all.

  5. How important wisdom is! Proverbs 4:7 is a bit of a theme verse for me in fact. To know how to think about ourselves, how to relate to God and to others is priceless and can only come from consistent engagement with the Word of God. But wisdom is not just about knowing something, but also being able to apply that knowledge to real circumstances. To be able to restrain our passions and make sure truth controls us rather than emotion is essential as well. So we are wise to pursue wisdom and pass it on to others too. And in addition to the Word, God gives His Spirt to us so we have His help to be wise and find the power to live in that wisdom as well.

  6. Wise words to live by:
    Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.
    Keep your mouth free of perversity;
    keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
    Let your eyes look straight ahead;
    fix your gaze directly before you.
    Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.
