Reading along with us in Exodus and Romans? Here’s today’s reading:

Romans 3 (NIV)

God’s Faithfulness
1 What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? 2 Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.
3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?……Continue Reading

  1. Just because the law cannot save, nor is bodily circumcision substantive to make us right with God, it doesn’t mean there is no value in being Jewish. The Jews have been trusted with the Word of God through which we learn everything about God, His person, promises and standards to live by. And one of the things we learn from the Word is no one is right before God on their own, Jew or Gentile. No one even seeks God and would be no where but for His pursuing love that provides a means to know Him. So salvation comes by means of God’s provision and that provision is Jesus Christ and the death He died to provide His righteousness to human kind. And the only way for us to receive that righteousness is to believe in Him. And because righteousness comes through faith and not the law, it is available and needed by both Jew and Gentile. And yet this righteousness through faith does not lead us to nullify the law, but rather uphold it…even if our unrighteousness highlights God’s righteousness even more….

  2. Yea and amen Pastor Pete. Christ becomes the embodiment of the law, crucified on the cross, to draw us to his righteousness. Verse 27 speaks to me, the law cannot address every aspect of human behavior, such as boasting. But the law of faith in Christ Jesus does, with a law written in the heart.

Presented a Christian witness to a friend yesterday, failed to convey a cogent gospel message, because I was too boastful, proud, in a manner of speaking. Thought I was so smart. There will be other opportunities. – reb

  3. No better chapter to show the state of mankind. Imagine reading this chapter. And it ending at verse 20. That’s what we all deserve!! BUT NOW!! 2 best words in our language a righteousness from God !! I’m going to yell amen and hallelujah this Sunday!!

  4. Romans 3 verse 22 this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to All who believe. Then it goes on to say we have all sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, but we are justified which means not guilty by his Grace. Jesus Christ redeemed us by his atoning blood that he shed for us. We have salvation through our faith in what God has done for us.

  5. God chose the Jewish nation to give the word of God. v2 { Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.} He chose them not because they were better than anyone else but for His own love and mercy. For scripture clearly says that we are all sinners. God in the book of Genesis is a foundation to what God teaches about marriage, sin, creation, confusion of languages, and so much more. But coming back to Romans 3; Paul is very clear about how we are all sinners and can`t earn our way to Heaven. Romans 3: 23 { For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.} We are not good for no one is good. Romans 3: 12C { there is none that doeth good, no not one.} We are not justified by the law for the law reveals sin in our lives. We instead are justified by faith in Jesus Christ by what He did on the cross. Romans 3: 28 { Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.} How could anyone think that they could earn salvation? No matter what a person does; he cannot erase his own sin. Only the blood of the Lamb of God could take away the sin of the world. For He was the perfect sacrifice. Only Him; the Son of God. Thank you Jesus!

  6. We are made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, noone will be declared righteous by their adherence to the law. However, we don’t throw the law out the window because it still has its place for us because through the law we become conscious of our sin.

  7. 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

  8. ”But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬-‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I think that the verses about “there is no one good, not one,” is hyperbole, to stress the point that no one is sinless and no one is able to stand before God without Christs atoning sacrifice. There are doctrines based on this scripture (total depravity) that I believe are false. Babies are not wicked or depraved from birth, people are able to choose to do good and able to know good from bad. Jesus says that, although we are evil, we give good gifts to our children. Simeon was righteous, Anna…. Moses, Noah, Job, Daniel. David was a “man after Gods own heart”, but obviously a sinner. There are more.

    1. all are born with a sin nature though and condemned through Adam (Romans 5) so that we would all have the choice to be redeemed through Christ….but not totally depraved so as not to exercise free will to believe in Jesus
