  1. David’s reign was not perfect but it was certainly blessed. Blessed by a gracious, loving God. This psalm speaks to the special relationship David had with God and we can all learn so much from it. David strived to be fair and just, he tried to follow the example of the relationship he had with God with the people he ruled over. Like David, we need to remember our own short comings and the forgiveness God provides then extend that same forgiveness to others. We need to remember that our words and thoughts are often not reflective of a pure heart and still God loves and gives us second chances (and thirds, fourths, fifths….;) and we ought to extend that same grace to those who hurt or offend us. We need to try our best everyday to obey God and be his hands and feet to others and that is why David’s example is so important because, no he wasn’t perfect, but this is how he tried to live and God was with him every step and misstep of the way!

  2. David recognizes the role that God gave him to lead the people and how blessed he was to be used by Him. He recognizes the value of following a righteous path and how he and the people are benefited from it. These things are true for all believers as we are placed by God in various spheres to be influencers there and we too will be benefited, and those around us as well, as we follow God’s ways. And as we come to the end of our lives, we will recognizes all the blessings that flowed to us and through us. But David also shows his humility and great leadership by giving accolades to his mighty men and even recounting the heroic things that they had done. It is always good when a leader shines the spotlight on those who have played a part in making them who they are.

  3. ”The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me: ‘He who rules over men must be just, Ruling in the fear of God. And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, A morning without clouds, Like the tender grass springing out of the earth, By clear shining after rain.’ “Although my house is not so with God, Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire; Will He not make it increase?“
    ‭‭II Samuel‬ ‭23‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  4. ‘The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: ‘When one rules over people in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God, ‘he is like the light of morning at sunrise on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain that brings grass from the earth.’ David rules in fear of God and righteousness. Although he sinned, he always turned to God in repentance and God forgave and restored him. Righteousness does not mean “no sin”, it means having a right relationship with the Lord. And God is faithful, he will forgive and forget and restore us back to a full relationship with him.
