2 Kings 6 (NIV)

An Axhead Floats
1The company of the prophets said to Elisha, “Look, the place where we meet with you is too small for us. 2 Let us go to the Jordan, where each of us can get a pole; and let us build a place there for us to meet.”
And he said, “Go.”
3 Then one of them said, “Won’t you please come with your servants?”……Continue Reading

  1. God has the ability to defy the laws of physics that He has created and therefore the axe head floats. And I guess the Arameans had forgotten what Elisha had done for Namaan and they are foolish to come against Israel when he knows their strategy as if he is hearing it. How gracious is our God to give His prophet that ability that confuses and frustrates the king. And the reality that Elisha points to is the reality of every believer’s life, that there are more for us than that are against us, regardless of the odds stacked against us. And I cannot even imagine the desperation that would lead to eating one’s child. We can thank our God that we have never been in that great a need. I would like to think I would offer myself to them if it came to that….but let’s hope it never comes to that.

  2. This chapter made me think of the song and prayer Open the Eyes of My Heart. Imagine for Elisha’s servant to be afraid because he could not see the protection of God. But when Elisha prayed for his eyes to be open he was able to see all the God had put in place to protect them. Such a cool thought to actually see with those eyes and know how much more that we don’t physically see that is always present with us and we just need to trust and believe!
Aslo, how sad that these people were so hungry they would eat their own children! I am with Pastor I would hope I would offer myself before doing this but I am so grateful life doesn’t look like this for us!

  3. Our faith is built on what we believe happens in the unseen world. It is comforting and powerful to imagine all that God has in place for us as we engage in life’s experiences. His powerful forces are leading the charge to get us to the place we need to go. He goes ahead of us and paves the way, he walks with us through the experience, and afterward he makes everything work out for his good purpose. “You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.” Psalms 139:5

  4. I bet Josiah was glad to hear that Pastor. I love when the servants eyes were opened and he seas all of the horses and chariots of fire on the hills I could just imagine seeing it myself, i’m sure he felt a lot better about his situation.
