  1. The sad end of Judah, God’s judgement has arrived and they are completely overcome by Babylon. It is a true, ironic picture of becoming a slave to sin! They wanted to live in their own selfish, evil ways because they did not want to follow God’s law and it lead to their own actual slavery and domination. Funny how we can think we are in control and getting what we want when we sin and can so easily overlook that our sin has become our controller!

  2. It is hard Bill, but it just goes to show just how evil the people of Judah had become, not only disobeying the law, but also following other god’s and their practices. It is also true that He does not completely abandon them, but actually goes with them into exile and uses that as discipline until they eventually return to the promised land. It is good that we have a more secure and full relationship with God through the blood of Jesus. But it is sad to see as things go downhill, the king and people still abandon God and His ways. And God brings the judgement that was forewarned and deserved.
