  1. How challenging it is to have those who seem more powerful speak against us and against God. Yet we can know that the same God who rescues Israel here, is the same God who stands with us to rescue us when we turn to Him and ask and believe. What a great picture of what Hezekiah is overwhelmed by, and then what he trusts in spite of that. And how he prays to God and then God uses His prophet to assure Hezekiah that He has heard Him. I just love how God is not shaken a bit and is confident in what He says about this arrogant fear monger who discredits His name. And boy does He take care of him in a way that no one probably imagined. And yet what we see here is the nature of the power of God. How blessed we are to be associated with Him.

  2. What an awesome chapter! Hezekiah finds himeself so overwhelmed by a situation that is just too big for him and falls to his knees and finally gives it to God. God’s response is simple, “I heard you and I got this!” God heard the prayer and responded. He had just been waiting for someone to finally get to the point when they saw no worth in any idol, tradition, strategy, or plan of man and realize that God is the ONLY way. God’s response was also priceless that He pretty much said do you know who you are dealing with…the only reason you have been winning is because I have been letting you win! Its like when you have been winning while playing a game with someone that finally reveals that they have had a greater ability all along and now what, yup game over!

  3. Finally, a king that inquires of the Lord when others are trying to deceive him! And he listens to the Lord through the words of Isaiah the prophet. He prays to God before making his next move. And it is so encouraging to read God’s response to the king’s plea for help. He destroys all those who are against him. With God’s his own hand, Hezekiah’s land is delivered without a single one of his people being destroyed. That is the reward of one who is truly blessed due to his faith in God in the midst of enormous strain and difficulties.

  4. Hezekiah is faithful and pleads to the Lord. God is faithful.
I was wondering if Hezekiah is married to Zechariah, the prophets daughter (from the previous chapter.)?

“Then Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O Lord our God, I pray, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord God, You alone.””
    ‭‭II Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭15‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  5. Remembered wrong: Hezekiah is the grandson of Zechariah the prophet.
“He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.”
    ‭‭II Kings‬ ‭18‬:‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
