Amaziah King of Judah

  1. It is always good to read of a righteous king of Judah, but this is no guarantee that he doesn’t make bad decisions. His military prowess was seen against the Edomites, but events showed that he should have taken the king of Israel’s advice to stay home. Amaziah also did not consult the Lord as to wether he should have attacked Israel. The end result being that Judah is defeated and blow is struck to Jerusalem. It is reminder to continue to make good decisions even as we are inclining our hearts to God.

  2. Amaziah was “good” in the eyes of the Lord, but he didn’t make wise decisions for his nation.

“Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall children be put to death for their fathers; but a person shall be put to death for his own sin.” – Deuteronomy 24:16

  3. What really stuck out to me is that David is still used as the king to try to emulate in your reign in Godly standard. We have kings that come closer than others but none that have shown his faithfulness to God in their reign and the end results always speak to their disobedience.
