2 Chronicles 5 (NIV)

1 When all the work Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated—the silver and gold and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of God’s temple.
The Ark Brought to the Temple
2 Then Solomon summoned to Jerusalem the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes and the chiefs of the Israelite families, to bring up the ark of the Lord’s covenant from Zion, the City of David. 3 And all the Israelites came together to the king at the time of the festival in the seventh month..........Continue Reading

  1. The ark was such a significant part of this temple and literally filled the temple with the presence of the Lord. We have seen so many times how seriously God takes the treatment and transport of the ark and Solomon made sure he did more than enough to handle it with care.
I imagine the people having a physical item representing God’s presence made it easier to praise and rejoice but we must remember we are blessed to have His presence in our church always and should praise this same way.

  2. There was a big celebration. The Ark was brought to the Temple. All the priests all dropped what they were doing to. The Ark is still there as of today. The 2 stone Tablets that Moses had put in when the Lord made a covenant with the people of Israel. I found it interesting that the band and chorus were combined as one dressed in their finest, to praise and thank the Lord. The theme being He is so good. His loving kindness lasts forever. in the middle of this Glory of God came in like a bright cloud filling up the temple as to cause the priests not to be able to continue there work. Can you imagine if while we were worshipping this happened. Must have been a sight as no other. I believe we will see it one day!

  3. I could just picture being part of this worship service, with voices and instruments as one and the Lord coming in a cloud. It must have been very powerful. Sometimes in our worship, I am overwhelmed with God’s presence, but a cloud?….that would be amazing!

“indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:

    “For He is good,
    For His mercy endures forever,”

that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.”

  4. What an awesome sight this must have been! I imagine Solomon thought all the leaders of the people should be around simply for the significance of what was happening officially opening the temple by making sacrifices and bringing the Ark from where David had placed it In another part of Jerusalem. He could imagine what his plan was, to make sacrifices that couldn’t be counted and organizing the priests, levites and singers. He even learned from David’s mistake to make sure Levites carried the Ark. But he couldn’t have imagined the glory of God coming in a cloud and filling the temple to the extent that the priests couldn’t perform their duties. it just goes to show we do out work in faithfulness and let God decide how and when He is going to show up….
