  1. What a miracle working God we have! He first stops the rain from coming and then makes provision for His prophet. And what faith He calls us to and is worthy of. How hard it would have been for this woman to make a cake for Elijah first. Now culture may have been directing her to do the same, but not her heart as a mother. But how often the dynamic here is true of our relationship with God: either give me the first, and have a jar that never runs out, or keep it for yourself and you will have enough for one day. The question always comes down to, how much do you believe….and what will you sacrifice or what limb will you go out on because of it? And if God has kept the son alive this long, of course He is going to provide the healing. And how much that confirms what we already know to be true.

  2. I just thought it was pretty neat as I was surfing the web , and this exact chapter about Elijah came up on my phone and I watched it shortly before reading it for the study. I like the way God used the ravens in this chapter. makes you think when you hear about or see other videos of wild animals saving people still to this day.

  3. You have to love the picture of God’s provision when we trust, all over this chapter! Elijah prays for a drought that certainly will affect him just as much as everyone else trusting that God will provide for him. This woman trusts God through Elijah’s words, a God she may not even believe in herself, and the jar never runs out. Finally, Elijah trusts that God can restore this woman’s son’s life because of her faithfulness and He does! So much trust and so much provision it makes me wonder why I often try to control things that I should be entrusting to God and give up the blessing of His provision!

  4. Continuation of earlier post like for instance I saw this one video where a pod of dolphins circled two swimmers for approximately 45 minutes, the Dolphins kept swimming around them, not allowing the swimmers to leave, they didn’t understand why till they realized there was a great white shark prowling the area in which they were swimming.

  5. Another lesson on steadfast faith and obedience. God can do all things. What seems impossible He makes possible.
Thru Elijah’s faith and trust that God would provide for his needs of food and rest…and his obedience…he brought that faith to the widow who then miraculously was able to provide for not only Elijah but also for herself and her son. Furthering Elijah’s faith and obedience to God..he brought the widows son back to life.
Elijah brought his faith to give her faith. Isn’t this an ‘old testament’ example the great commission?

  6. God provides for Elijah and the the woman in miraculous ways because they believed in Him and did what was asked of them. In times of trouble, the Lord will provide for his children. He will never leave us or forsake us.

  7. So much revealed about God here.
    – His Sovereignty over nature – famine, drought, provision out of dearth, even from Ravens and a little brook, and a widow.
    – His guidance to His servant, Elijah – go to this widow
    – man/woman’s free will – leave your hiding place, make a cake from the little you have left. They obey Gods word.
    – God responding to man’s faith – provides flour, oil and even restores life at Elijah’s prayer.
