Reading along with us in 1 Corinthians? Here’s today’s reading:

1 Corinthians 2 (ESV)

And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory… Continue Reading

  1. 10these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. ❤️

  2. 7. We speak of God’s secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 9 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 but God has revealed it to us by His spirit.

  3. Reading 1 Corinthians 2, I’m reminded to be grateful not only for my salvation, but for the gift of the Holy Spirit!! I pray for spiritual discernment to identify in myself what is of God and what is of the flesh, by judging all things according to His Word. I pray for an outpouring of the spirit of God on the Church, so we will have eyes to see clearly and hearts bent only to His, especially in this divided nation where many who profess allegiance to Christ are being torn in two by their allegiance to leaders who do not have the MIND of Christ.

“But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:15-16

  4. “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.”
It is hard to wrap my mind around the depth of knowledge, power and intimacy that God has given us through Christ.

We read last night in Hebrews “I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;” and “And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Praise God for the work of Christ that enables us to have this relationship with God.

  5. I read chapter 2 and really don’t have anything to add due to the comments above. I think in the same way we use only a small percentage of our brain power, we only scratch the surface of what God desires to accomplish through His Spirit in us. May we be emptied of self and full of Him.

    (Ok, maybe I couldn’t help adding a little…..) 🙂
