  1. David gathers workers and materials for the temple even though he will not build it. He has been associated with bloodshed, and Solomon will be associated with peace. That is why Solomon will build the temple. But David sets his son up for success by instructing him to build the temple, tell him of the preparations he has made, and most importantly telling him to devote his heart and soul to seeking the Lord his God. May we all do the same!

  2. 1CHRONICLES 22
David gives instructions to workers how the temple is to be made. Unlike himself he wants his son Solomon to be peaceful. It’s good that David wants more for Solomon and instructs him to dedicate his heart and soul to seeking the Lord. This is what we should be doing on a daily basis seeking God.

  3. David sets the groundwork for the temple that he will not build. He provides his son, Solomon, not just the place, materials, and instruction but also clear direction to be obedient to God through this process. David had already learned the lesson, often through his own mistakes, that disobedience does not work! It did make me think of how often we watch our kids walk a path we already have and we try to warn them “been there, done that” I didn’t follow God and it didn’t end well. Then we just pray they choose to learn from our example and not the hard way.

  4. I was thinking of how we argue with God when we are unsatisfied with the life position we are in.
David acknowledges he is disqualified from building a house for the Lord because he has shed much blood. Of course, David was a great warrior for Israel and he was not sinning in his warfare, nonetheless God doesn’t want him building His house.
