1 Chronicles 18 (NIV)
David’s Victories
1 In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.…..Continue Reading

David experienced many victories and much sucess as he followed God. Obedience led to blessing. He was a great king, a strong king, and a just king. We also see him start to accumulate the materials that Solomon will later use to build the temple like God promised. David didn’t just want to acquire wealth but rather knew God had a plan for a temple and he was working toward God’s purpose once again.
1CHRONICLES 18
Part of the blessings that God promised in the book of Deuteronomy that would come from obedience was success in battle. David experiences this in many battles and receives the plunder and control that flowed from victory. David was an apt commander and skilled in fighting and therefore led the army well. He also brings in apt leaders to help in all aspects of the Kingdom. So nice to see what flows from God’s hand being on His people.
God gave David victory in all these battles and David acknowledges that. The world thinks victory comes from their own efforts and a little luck. So just like David we should acknowledge our success is from above.

1Chronicles 18
“So David reigned over all Israel, and administered judgment and justice to all his people.”
I Chronicles 18:14 NKJV
Interesting that several of David’s warriors are “sons of Zeruiah” (David’s sister) mentioning their mother,
Instead of their father. She must have been amazing considering the warriors she raised.
