1 Chronicles 1
The book of Chronicles starts with a genealogy that was very important to the Jews. It begins with Adam and goes to those who ruled Edom, a neighbor and relative of Israel, but who had rulers in Canaan before the Jews had a king. It is interesting the side comments that are made about some and how which part of a genealogy is emphasized. The writer is going to focus on the kings of Judah, so he does want to show where they came from as well as describing other peoples that surrounded the promised land.
