Titus 3 (NIV)

Saved in Order to Do Good
1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.……Continue Reading

  1. We are to put our faith into practice and therefore are to not speak evil of anyone but rather to show how God has changed our hearts by showing all meekness to all men. For we need to remember who and what we were before coming to Christ Jesus. And to remember how evil we were or how self righteous we were. No matter what our past we were never worthy of Christ. As it says here in verse 5. [ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. [ Holy Spirit] May God richly bless our walk with Him.

  2. Titus 2. Churches with different generations of people. Not thinking the same way. Easy to argue with others. For the grace of God that brings salvation had appeared to ALL men. Teaching us to say no to the things of this world

  3. Titus 3. Funny how we thought we weren’t slaves when we had the freedom to go slam types of worldly things. Paul says we were enslaved. We only find true freedom when we are a slave to God. Justified by his Grace. Nothing comes close to that!!! Avoid foolish arguments. my biggest pet peeve in the church. Not interested in those that want to impress others with doctrine. Divisive. Self condemned

  4. Titus 3
”But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,“
    ‭‭Titus‬ ‭3‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  5. 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.
Our true motivation to live a life pleasing to God is the knowledge of what He did to save the likes of us! We do not deserve the mercy and forgiveness He gives us. We certainly didn’t earn it and can never repay it but living a life of kindness and gentleness shows the appreciation for this gift and then that gift of love and mercy should overflow from us onto others!

  6. How interesting and correct that Paul identifies the way we should be to all people: doing good, peaceful, considerate and humble, in light of how we used to be. But for the grace of God, there go I, was something I heard consistently growing up. And how true that is. We can be very compassionate and understanding of the misguided and even evil nature of our society when we realize it is only because of Jesus’ saving work and the Spirit’s sanctifying work that we are who we are. And boy has He poured it on us with abundance with nothing to do with good things we had done. And although compassion reigns in general, when it comes to divisive people…and those whipping up controversies and wanting to argue for arguments sake, not being teachable, are practically in that lot…we warn them twice. Then we can move on to those who are teachable.

And I really like when Paul’s letters give a picture of the orchestration necessary for the Mediterranean gospel movement. How he was apt and conscientious to do so gives a further picture into the kind of man he was and the things he did for the sake of the gospel.

  7. He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy and grace. So we have an inheritance that is far greater than any heir could ever receive on earth, eternal life in heaven with God our Father. And when we take the time and effort to devote ourselves to doing what is good, we are engaging in a life that is productive, fulfilling, and purposeful. Why would we want to live any other way?
