Romans 2 (NIV)

God’s Righteous Judgment
1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2 Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.……Continue Reading

  1. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves.

One argument often repeated, “what about all the people who never heard about Jesus?”

The Psalmist said words to the effect, All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

My answer, what do you say about Jesus? as you HAVE HEARD about him! Why all the concern about others? My God says the invisible things of God are clearly understood by all that is made. God is not a liar. We are without excuse who reject the Holy God. Doubting friend, Do you see God too?

All the earth dwellers have always known of God, and their conscience declares it in themselves. This is good! Romans, every word, is profound! -reb

  2. God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Many truths and warnings here. Should be the wake up call for everybody. Romans 2.

  3. For Paul to hit the Jews in the Church of Rome right between the eyes. Stating. Every human being knows that. Murder. Stealing. Etc. are wrong. But you who know the written law so well You are even more guilty of hypocrisy. Telling people how to live with your knowledge, never forget years ago, picked up a pen and written was. The lessons we teach best in life are the lessons we need most

  4. As Paul says in vs 28,29. { For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.} It’s when we are circumcised in the heart is when we come to Jesus. Legalism gets us nowhere as far as salvation but it is a true humble heart seeing our need for the Savior and calling upon Him. It is not based on anything that we can do except realizing that we are nothing without Him. All our self righteousness is as filthy rags. Isaiah 64: 6 { But we are all as a unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we do all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind have taken us away.} This is what Jesus said to the Pharisees for on the outside they gave the appearance of righteousness but inside they were full of corruption with sin. Just like white washed tombs. A person must see their need for the Savior and realize that they are sinners. Thank the Lord that He led us to Himself. Many of us can agree that something tragic happened in our lives to bring us to Christ. Mine was my sister {Susan} who died at the age of 15 and a day before I graduated at Pilgrim High in 1972. But I found Christ a little over a year latter. I will see her in Heaven for she became a Christian a couple of years before the Lord took her to be with Him. Praise His Holy Name!

  5. Even though the world is increasingly corrupted by their rejection of God, no one is in a position to judge someone else, especially if we are actually doing the same things (which in essence we are in every act of disobedience we have). We are best to let God’s kindness lead us to repentance and leave the judgement of others to Him. Because even though we know that salvation is through faith in Jesus, there is an aspect that good people will go to heaven and bad people won’t, because that is what faith or lack of faith lead to. We are also accountable to what we know and understand and more importantly what we do with it. If we do not know the law and yet obey it because of conscience, then there is a righteousness in that…if only we could be perfect with no sin that needed to be cleansed. But God is the One Who has the right to judge man in whatever state he is in and His judgment is always right. So the Gentile is not really justified and neither is the Jew, even though he might think he is. If a Jew just relies on what they have in flesh, their pedigree as a Jew, and don’t live out the law, then their pedigree means nothing. It is what is in the heart that matters and being faithful to the law that defines a true Jew. So being obedient and good has value in God’s economy. We are well to do well. But that is not the end of the story, because no amount of human righteousness can truly make us right with God (maybe if we could be perfect).. but we can’t….and so there has to be something else… that Paul will unpack…a righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus…and there is nothing lacking in that.

  6. Strive to be focused, persistent and determined to do what is right and good, so the world will see and be drawn to God because they want what we have – peace in knowing they have eternal life. “To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.”

  7. ”For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  8. God knows our heart. It isn’t just about appearances and it certainly isn’t about feeling better about ourselves at the expense of someone else. We are all accountable and only the one without sin, Jesus, can pass judgement.
