  1. Revelation. John is given a vision. Of what is to come and the throne of God which he struggles to put into human language. The vision of good verses evil. Antichrist set loose on earth. Gods wrath sent on mankind. Satan thrown into the abyss. Always like the truth that one angel with s large chain in one hand. Throws satan into the abyss with his other hand. Millennial period. Satan thrown into lake of fire. Forever. Gods new heaven and earth. Chapter 1 look bd is coming in the clouds and EVERY eye will see him. Even those who pierced him. I AM. The alpha and the omega Who is. Who was and is to come. No argument who this is. Jesus!! Used this verse to sway people in cults who don’t believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. The son of man described as well as John could. Every part of his body represents his divine nature and all wisdom. Out of his mouth came a double edge sword. Hebrews 4:12. Verse 17. And here is the absolute truth. Jesus holds the keys to death and hades. He alone has set us free from sin and satan. We do not fear death or hades. Our savior has eternal power and authority over all things now and for all eternity. Hard to fathom that the God of all things has allowed us to be brought near to him from the precious cleansing blood of our lord. His Grace upon us is overwhelming

  2. Often when teaching Daniel and Revelation are taught together. It is the Revelation of Jesus Christ brought to John by an angel. John was to write seven churches in Asia. Each church had something good or bad about them. There were many other churches but God had His purpose for these seven letters. The letters also apply to the churches throughout the church age. Jesus The Christ is the Alpha Omega, [ the beginning and the end]. He has made believers, kings and priests. When Christ comes back in the second coming every eye will see Him throughout the world. It will not be done in secret. The people in the world will realize that He is Jesus whom they had pierced. The description of Jesus [ the Son of man] is amazing. His head and his hairs are white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire. His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters. [ verses 15—16]. His right hand held seven stars [ angels] and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword [ Word of God]. His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. In Daniel 10; 5—6 there is a similar description. John was so over whelmed that he fell like a dead man at the feet of Jesus. Then Jesus comforted him by putting his right hand on John and told him not to fear. I am the life eternal. I am also the Almighty that holds the keys of hell and of death. In other words Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but through Jesus.

  3. John sets the circumstance, condition, source and reason for the great revelation to come. It is Jesus’ words that will be shared and it is fitting that it should be so because He is the highly exalted One, the Alpha and the Omega, and the One who has purchased salvation for all mankind. Jesus has a message for seven churches that John must be familiar with as well as for all those who care to know what will happen in the end of time. Jesus’ glory is revealed not only in who He is and what He has done, but also in HIs appearance. How awesome and daunting this vision must have been. And like Daniel, John is told not to be afraid and write all that He sees because Jesus is the One who is worthy to be heard and speaks authoritatively about the things that He will reveal.

  4. Much like Daniel, John is overwhelmed by this vision and by the appearance of Christ. He had a message for the seven churches and for us as well; a look at the end times but first He reminds John that He is in control of it all. That He holds the keys to life and death, heaven and hell.
Especially knowing what is to come in the ahead chapters it is a necessary reminder that we must keep our eyes on the Alpha Omega, the Almighty One.

  5. Wow, the breakdown of chapter 1 is awesome thank you. Working on chapter 2 and three, excited to hear everyone’s response.

  6. Revelation 1 – John is the author of Revelations he is given a vision from Christ about future events. John was in exile on the island of Palmos, he was the only one left out of the original apostles who hadn’t been killed for his faith.
John says the time is near, he tells us Christ is coming with the clouds and every eye will see him even those who pierced him. He is the beginning and the end, I love the description he gives in verses 12 through 16 and when John saw him he fell dead at his feet, but God placed his right hand on him and said “do not be afraid I am the first and the Last”!

  7. The book of Revelation was passed down from God to Jesus to his angel to John to us. From heavenly beings to human beings. And everyone is blessed when they read and take to heart what is written in it. The description of the Son of man, Jesus, sounds like the same one that was described in Daniel. It’s amazing how prophesy can be cross referenced throughout the Bible to reinforce its validity and understanding.

  8. “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”

  9. Right up front he lets us know who is in charge. He instructs them to write what they have seen. what is now and what is later. Jesus tells him I am alive forever and ever and I hold the truth of death and Hades! Explicitly he tells John not to be afraid.
