God is certainly greater than any of the small g gods that others worship. Great and small, rich and poor, the powerful and weak are all below Him and all are best to know and follow His ways. How sad that the proud do not see their need for Him and yet the humble recognize their need and are blessed because of it. How awesome it is that He undergirds us with strength and provision, preserves our lives and deals with our enemies. SO glad that we have His enduring love. Amen?
I was wondering about the small g gods, a commentary suggested that it could mean angelic beings or kings that are sometimes referred to as small g gods in Hebrew scripture.
I think that we can be assured, and reassure ourselves of God’s love and our own intent by using “I will” statements and “You will” statements in our prayers and worship.
I will praise You with my whole heart
I will sing praises to You
I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name.
You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.
You will revive me.
You will stretch out Your hand
Against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand delivers me.
8The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.
