  1. How awesome is it that the people had a question regarding Passover and Moses pretty much said “hold on let me go ask God” and he did and he received an answer! I was struck in this chapter just how close to God the Israelites were. They moved with Him with the cloud and the fire and were always under His covering….just so awesome!

  2. It is very intetesting to know God in light of these Old Testament accounts. Particularly interesting is the cloud above the tabernacle – how God determined the when and where of the Israelites movement and the signifance of obedience and how it relates to protection.

  3. Numbers 9 again the Lord spoke to Moses, told him when to celebrate Passover, there were some Israelites who were unclean and Moses went to the Lord to find out what to do. The Lord spoke to Moses again and directed him on how to handle the unclean. I find the Old Testament so interesting in how they worshiped, in how they purified themselves, the sacrificial offerings, God had standards as he still does today our offering was Christ dying to make us clean.

    1. The Passover in Exodus was celebrated in Egypt. This is celebrated in the Desert of Sinai. So it appears this is the first Passover celebrated to honor the events in Egypt as opposed to happening while the events were transpiring. How exciting it must have been and how fresh the memories were of what God did to free them from Egypt. No wonder some were so anxious to celebrate.

        1. I was thinking of their obedience. Depending on the cloud. To bad that obedience didn’t stick with them

  4. So the Jews celebrate the Passover for the first time being out of Egypt (at least this is the first one mentioned since the events in Egypt). It is nice that God makes a provision for those who were unclean as a result of a dead body and even better that these people pressed Moses/God for an exception. I imagine there was alot of enthusiasm in this Passover as they celebrated all that God had done for them to bring them to this place. And I just love the picture of guidance and response that is here at the end of the chapter. When God said go, they went. When God said stay, they stayed. What a great provision. Who else wishes that we had a cloud to guide us in our lives? I guess the Holy Spirit will have to do…..

  5. It’s interesting that God made an allowance for the unclean to celebrate Passover. And then those who decided not to celebrate would be cut off. I think this enforces the idea that God desires and knows man’s heart. These men wanted to celebrate the passover but understood the need to obey the law.

  6. 15On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire. 16That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire. 17Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. 18At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. 19When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order and did not set out.
