36 ¶ “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,
but My Father only.
37 “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
”Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.“
Matthew 24:40-42, 44 NKJV
Lenten day 22
We must always be ready for the Lord to come. We need to pray that we will be ready to receive Him. Gods help us!
5.16 Only God Knows When the Time Will Be (Matthew 24:36-41, Luke 21:34-36, Mark 13:34-37, Matthew 24:42-51) Reminiscent of section 4.67 (Luke 17:20-37) Jesus makes it clear that no one will know when He will return, and that we must always be ready. Jesus uses some very graphic language in the last couple verses…”the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” So, Jesus admonishes us, “Stay awake.” We must stay on guard, watching for His return, expecting Him at any moment. If we live that way, it will radically change our lives…and ultimately, isn’t that the whole point? God, in His infinite love, saw fit to send His Son to die for us, to bring us back to Him…to make us new creations in Christ, that we might be able to stand in His presence, washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, for the glory of God alone! Stay awake…”so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.” (2 Cor 2:11) We must be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ. (Romans 12:2).
Thank you Lord for brothers like Reason!! Awesome to see you on website Sounds like we have work to do. Not complicated everyday there’s opportunities. Just using the Godly gifts given to you to bring glory to God. We know what our Fathers will is for each of us. Let’s get busy doing it.
Day 22 5:16
Only God knows when the time will be, we need to be ready always.
Reason glad to see that you have joined us in this on line reading and study of the scriptures. May we all learn together as we share the scripture. We all must be ready for His return. May when He comes back finding us sharing the gospel with others. Let us also be fully equipped with the armor of God. Eph. 6: 13–18 God bless you all.
The Life of Jesus 5.16 .
It is amazing to me that Jesus talks about His people always being ready knowing full well how much time would pass on earth until He comes. And yet, I believe every generation of believers needed that encouragement because if we knew the time it would have been easy to take it easy and wait for it to come. So Jesus was wise to emphasize it over and over. May we be found to be the good servants who continue to do the master’s bidding and acting in a way consistent with His word, regardless of when He returns….
Lenten 2024 – Day 22
“So be ready all the time. Pray that you will be able to get through all these things that will happen and stand safe before the Son of Man”
We must be constantly reminded to be ready, He knows how quickly we can get distracted and take our eyes off Him.
Do not spend your time unwisely by worrying about this life. If you do that, you won’t be able to think straight and you won’t be focusing on the things God wants you to do. However, if you trust in him and do his work, when he comes – that will be a day of great blessing.
