Reading along with us in Isaiah? Here’s today’s reading:

Isaiah 62 (NIV)

Zion’s New Name
1 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet,
till her vindication shines out like the dawn,
her salvation like a blazing torch.
2 The nations will see your vindication,
and all kings your glory;
you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.
3 You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
a royal diadem in the hand of your God.........Continue Reading

  1. Sounds like Isaiah is speaking these words in the first 5 verses. If so. He certainly has a huge desire to have Jerusalem restored. Last verse. They will be called the holy people the redeemed of the lord. Amen to that!! A royal priesthood

  2. Isaiah sees a new dawn for Israel, which includes a new name, new purposes and new provision. But he will not keep silent until it comes. How encouraging all that God will do to establish Israel as He intended it to be and so provide a future and a name that reflects that. I love Isaiah 62:11-12! May we be dedicated to the proclamation of God’s truth that directs people on the right path and secures a future that God can bless and be part of!

  3. God can restore anyone no matter how far we feel we have fallen from Him. His promises are true and never fail!

  4. God will not rest until His work with Israel is accomplished.

“You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the Lord will name.”

I wonder what her new name will be?

Hopefully not Beulah or Hephzibah, but I suppose at that point I won’t have opinions about the relative beauty of a name. It WILL be beautiful because God named it! and that will be the definition of beautiful! (Beulah was Steve’s grandmother’s name, so as names go it will probably be beautiful once again.)
