A Lament Over Egypt
1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘Wail and say,
“Alas for that day!”
3 For the day is near,
the day of the Lord is near—

  1. A true picture of God’s scope and power in this lament against Egypt. He will bring not only death to people but desolate the land and leave Pharaoh helpless. Pride and idolatry lead to destruction!

  2. I was going to say that “God judges nations” and I stopped to think whether this is just an old testament thing. When I look at American society, I get concerned that God will bring a major and sudden disaster on this godless society. Ptr Peter?

    1. I do believe that God judges nations, but how and when is hard to tell. I believe that believers in a society preserve a nation for a time, but that too can end. And certainly our society is heading in a direction worthy of it, but it is in God’s way and timing.

      1. A sobering thought Pastor but unfortunately one that makes a great deal of sense. Again why we strive to be the gap standers He can find in our nation!

  3. More details are given of God’s decimation of Egypt and her allies that relied on her will suffer the same fate. No one would see this coming considering Egypt prestige, wealth, power and influence. They were the source of comfort for many nations and peoples around them. Well God is showing that that confidence was misplaced and He will shoe through His power that the God of the Jews should’ve been the One they were trusting in…and by virtue of these events, they will know that He is the Lord. So glad that we already know that, Amen!

  4. Causing the hands and arms of Pharaoh to become useless and strengthen the king of Babylon. Then again scattering the Egyptians among the nations.
