Ezekiel 10 (NIV)

God’s Glory Departs From the Temple
1 I looked, and I saw the likeness of a throne of lapis lazuli above the vault that was over the heads of the cherubim. 2 The Lord said to the man clothed in linen, “Go in among the wheels beneath the cherubim. Fill your hands with burning coals from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in............Continue Reading

  1. Without a Commentary. I’d be lost. But now I understand. God is leaving the temple. That Babylon will soon destroy. Left me with a sad heart. Thinking this great country is heading more and more in this direction. Thank God there are still a large number of believers praying for this country. My heart breaks for our children and grandchildren. I believe prayers are holding back the hand of God. The most powerful weapon we have against the schemes of the enemy. Please pray for the USA

  2. What a glorious, overwhelming and maybe a bit confusing vision that Ezekiel sees here. And yes, because of all the detestable practices of the Jewish people the glory of the Lord is leaving the temple. But where is it going? It is going with the people in Babylon. So the glory of the Lord is not connected to a place but to the people. What comfort that would bring those in exile that God was still with them. And what a comfort for us that Jesus promise us that He will never leave us or forsake us and He is the same yesterday, today and forever!

  3. Wish I read further Peter. What a picture that God follows his people. I know I’m not always looking at it as a child of God. It just breaks my heart. Growing up in the 60,s. Everyone feared their father and God. And it worked. If neither one of them exists. No consequences

  4. These visions can be confusing but I imagine to try to explain the appearance of the glory of God would be something beyond our ability to comprehend or describe. What I find interesting in this description and the similar one back in chapter 1 is that there is so much movement. The glory of God and the throne is active, busy, and always moving and working. It is a good reminder that God is not just sitting back and watching us like an observer but an active participant in our lives and wants to bring us back when we stray, wants to support when we are on the right path, and is ready to correct when we mess up.

  5. I was curious as to what the cheribum and wheels may have looked like so I searched it up on Google. There was a You Tube video that showed the vision as the passage was being read. It gave me a sense of how incredibly powerful God is and what it means when he says “Be still and know that I am God”. And when I meditate on the glory of the Lord as pictured in this passage while I pray it helps ease my anxious thoughts knowing that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

  6. “Then the glory of the Lord departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim. 19 And the cherubim lifted their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels were beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of the Lord’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.”

I was thinking of royalty and dignitaries and their entourage that follows and serves them. God is attended by heavenly beings with wings and faces and eyes and wheels and fire.
