Consecration of the Priests
1“This is what you are to do to consecrate them, so they may serve me as priests: Take a young bull and two rams without defect. 2 And from the finest wheat flour make round loaves without yeast, thick loaves without yeast and with olive oil mixed in, and thin loaves without yeast and brushed with olive oil.……Continue Reading

  1. In this chapter we have the consecration of Aaron and his sons. They had to be washed and then would get clothed as High Priest and priests. Remember they had to wash their hands and feet in the Lavor before entering into the Holy Place or they would die. Then they were given the procedures of taking a young bull, and two rams all without blemish. They were also to take unleavened bread, cakes unleavened with oil, and wafers unleavened with oil. What to burn and where. They were place their hands upon all three animals. This is represented of these animals taken their place. The bull offering was for a sin offering. The first ram offering was a burnt offering. The last ram was for consecration. The blood of this ram was put on the tip of their right ear, the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot. They were also take one loaf of bread, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer for a wave offering before the Lord and burn it. To be a sweet savour. Exodus 29:32,33 { And Aaron and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram, and the bread that is in the basket, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And they shall eat those things wherewith the atonement was made; to consecrate and to sanctify them; but a stranger shall not eat thereof because they are holy.} This would be the second ram that was for consecration. For seven days they were to have the bull offering for sin. It doesn`t say if they were to continue daily the two rams here at least in this chapter. But it does say that two lambs were to be an offering daily ; one in the morning and one during the evening. Perhaps this is the replacement. Anyone have an answer here? It seems in scripture that sometimes they were interchanged. Correct me if I remember wrong. Anyways God bless you all.

  2. The priests needed to be set apart for service to God, not only in what they wore and cleansing by water, but also cleansing by blood. Those who would offer sacrifices for the people also needed to have their sin forgiven and atoned for. Sacrifices were also to be made regularly at different times of the day. And I love when God says things are to be a lasting ordinance. It shows His commitment to the longevity of the covenant He was establishing with the people and asking them to be committed to. How unfortunate that these things became more about rote practice rather than about relationship, that God desired. May we as God’s people not do the same and always pour meaning into the things that God calls us to, remembering why God commanded them in the first place.

  3. ”…… The priesthood shall be theirs for a perpetual statute. So you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons.“
    ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭29‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  4. The importance God places on sacrifice is clear. Just as we read in Romans 12 that we are to be living sacrifices now, in these times they were presenting physical sacrifices. Burning something away completely to represent full surrender to God. I am glad we no longer need to kill animals and burn things on altars and I wonder how much of that became a job to do rather than a true representation of what was happening and in turn I question how often I am giving my whole self to God in complete surrender rather than just saying the words or going through the motions. I guess then and now we need to be sure we are always truly surrendering everything to God.
