  1. This must have been such an awesome thing to see, smell, and hear. Even if you can get past the natural occurence of great thunder, lightening, and earthquake how about an insanely loud trumpet sound from heaven! This must have been frightening and exciting all at the same time. There is no wonder God must instruct Moses to keep the people down off the mountain I am sure there would have been many people scared and willing to stay put but also many curious people looking to see and hear more. A tangible expression of the power of God before them!

  2. The people of Israel came to the desert of Sinai and encamped before the mount. Moses went up Mount Sinai to meet with God. It appears that Moses went up and down a few times. God told Moses to prepare the people to be sanctified and on the third day He would come down upon the mountain. The people were not to approach on the mountain or they would be killed. God would only allow Moses and Aaron on the mount. vs 24. God appeared on the mount in a cloud with fire, thunders, and lightnings and smoke. God answered Moses in a voice. There was a voice of a loud trumpet which got louder and louder. The people heard the trumpet but it was the voice of God. Such as when Paul was spoken to when he got saved on the road to Damascus. Jesus spoke to him and with a great light. Some may had heard a voice but others didn`t. Acts 9:7 { And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.} Acts 22:9 { And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of Him that spake to me.} They may had heard the voice but they were frozen with fear and didn`t detect it. Just a loud sound. Acts 26:13,14 is another reference to this event with Paul. He heard a voice and they all saw a light from Heaven and they fell down on their knees. God bless you all.

  3. What a marvelous sight this must have been as God shows off His power through weather to remind the people of His greatness and cause them to be humble before Him as they receive His law. The mountain must be sanctified to reenforce God’s holiness and what a special moment this was as they come into covenant with God and promise to obey His law. It also solidifies Moses and Aaron’s roles as their representatives before God as they are the only ones who can approach Him. How privileged we are to have unfettered access to this same great and powerful God through Jesus. How wonderful too when we are overwhelmed with His greatness that the only thing we can do is to be in awe of Him!

  4. ”Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”“
