  1. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handy work. Psalm 19:1 What a way to exalt God before going on in this chapter. God is the God of all creation by saying with by His spoken word; He has created everything that we see with perfection. All the planets, stars, sun. moon, water, ground, mankind, animals, birds, sea creatures, insects and so much more but because of man`s sin the whole of creation was corrupted. It is a fallen world now because of man`s sin. But most of this chapter is about God`s word; the Bible. God`s written word is perfect. vs 7a. The word of God has a refreshing, and cleansing affect on our souls and therefore as we spend time in it we will draw closer to the Lord. We will grow in the Lord and our desires will change and instead of going after sin; we will start living a different life which would be pleasing to our Lord. The word of God will also make the simple wise. This would be godly wisdom. Psalm 19:7 { The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.} The word of God is right, rejoicing the heart, and it is pure, and enlightens the eyes. vs 8. The word of God is described as more than gold, and sweeter than a honeycomb, vs 10 His word teaches us right from wrong for we are warned and by keeping them we will have reward. That`s because our lives will be blessed by Him and He will guide us in His will for our lives. To surrender everything into His hands and not try to do something in our own will which He has not blessed. It is a good thing that even if we make wrong judgements; He is always there to pick us up if we call upon Him to lead us. It would be better for us and those around us if we actually decided to listen to God the first time and stop struggling. But don`t take Him for granted; He may allow you to go through something anyways because of your wrong decision or sin. But He will always provide a way of escape if we call upon Him. This doesn`t mean that bad things won`t happen to us for we are in a fallen world because of sin. God has His own purposes when He allows things to happen. He doesn`t cause sin to happen; for He cannot sin. But He will bring it all about to work out His will. There are many examples in the Bible and in our daily lives. You don’t have to look too far to see how God is working. How many of us got saved because of something terrible happening in our lives? And how many of us grew in our relation to the Lord because of something that was out of our control and we had to completely put our trust in Him? Consider these thoughts when we question God about why bad things happen to us as believers. God knows all and He loves us. May the Lord bless each one of you as we seek to follow Him.

  2. God set His glory all around and His hand is seen in everything that He has made. So much of who God is can be seen in creation and no part of the earth is without the testimony of the declaration that says, “I am here. I am powerful, creative, intelligent, loving, etc.” And yet God’s greatness is not only found in the physical world, but also in His word. What wisdom is found in it and great reward and protection in following it. And Psalm 19:14 is one that I have memorized. May it be true of all of us.

Psalm 20 is what is called a royal Psalm. There are a handful of them out of the 150 found in this book. They exalt the King of Israel (namely David) and point to God’s hand upon him and all the things the people would wish for the king and the country as God is faithful to His promises. As God works and the king follows, the people rejoice in what God has done and will do through the one He has placed in authority over them.

  3. ”The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,“
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    Reminds me of Romans 1:20:
”For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,“
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  4. The heavens are an immense, amazing spectacle to study, reflect and gaze upon. The more I learn about them, the more I appreciate God’s magnificence. Like the Psalmist says, the heavens have no speech, they use no words, yet their voice goes out to all the Earth declaring that God is glorious! And I am a child of the One True God who created these things, he is my Rock and my Redeemer.
