2 Thessalonians 3 (ESV)

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.....Continue Reading

  1. Paul closes this brief letter by asking for prayer for the thing closes to his heart: the advance of the gospel. He also warns them against idleness. Some think that some Thessalonians had checked out of taking care of responsibilities because of their misunderstanding of Paul that Jesus was coming back soon. Regardless it is good instruction for all generations to realize that God intends for us to work and take care of ourselves, all under His guidance and grace of course. And he finishes the letter in typical fashion wishing them God’s peace since peace is such an essential thing that we seek and need and that which only God can provide.

  2. And a special note here certainly to say thanks to those who have been consistent in reading and posting here. But also to let you know we will do something a little different over the next month or so. We will read 3 chapters of Isaiah to one chapter of 2 Kings. There are a few reasons. First we need to get into the prophets and the first few are fairly lengthy, so I thought it wise to break them up a little. Second, the prophets spoke to the circumstances and to the kings that are in 2 Kings. Hopefully it will make sense as we go along…..

  3. 1Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, 2and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
