Reading along with us in Psalms? Here’s today’s reading:

Psalm 73 (ESV)

Truly God is good to Israel,
    to those who are pure in heart.
But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,
    my steps had nearly slipped.
For I was envious of the arrogant
    when I saw the prosperity of the wicked...

  1. How easy it is to think we are losing when we are winning. How easy it is to see the unrighteousness prospering and seeming to not have a care in the world and think we are wasting our time being faithful to God. That is until we see things from God’s perspective. And we see what He values and what He affirms and blesses. It is so important that we keep our eyes on Him and not the world or what appears to be so in how things unfold on this earth. Evil will have its day but it will not win in the end. God will bring everything to a righteous and just and and we will be better being oriented to and working for His kingdom than the things of this world. I like Psalm 73:24-26. It really says it all. All that truly matters is Him and what He says is valuable.

  2. I like your comment, Pastor.

    Sometimes we get a “why me?” attitude when we lose focus on “the sanctuary of God.”

    This sounds like coming to Christ:
    Repentance:
    “Thus my heart was grieved,
    And I was vexed in my mind.
    I was so foolish and ignorant;
    I was like a beast before You.”

    Receiving Christ:
    “Nevertheless I am continually with You;
    You hold me by my right hand.”

    The work of the Holy Spirit:
    “You will guide me with Your counsel,”

    The promise of eternal life:
    “And afterward receive me to glory.”

  3. 23 Nevertheless, I am continually with you;
    you hold my right hand.
    24 You guide me with your counsel,
    and afterward you will receive me to glory.
    25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
    And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.
    26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
    but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
    27 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish;
    you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.
    28 But for me it is good to be near God;
    I have made the Lord God my refuge,
    that I may tell of all your works.
